Welcome to Phitsanulok, Thailand.   The University of New England is proud to announce the forthcoming 1st International Conference on Health Services Delivery Management to be held in Thailand in October 2009

  Dear Delegates,

It is our great pleasure to invite you to attend the 1st International Conference on “Health Services Delivery Management” (1st CHSDM) on 14-16 October 2009 at Phitsanulok province, Thailand.

The Conference will be jointly organised by the Faculty of Public Health, Naresuan University, the University of New England, Australia (UNE), Australian College of Health Service Executives (ACHSE), WHO SEARO, WHO Thailand, the Network of WHO Collaborating Centres and Centres of Expertise in Thailand (NEW-CCET), the National Health Security Office (NHSO) of Thailand, the Cardiac Children Foundation of Thailand, the Faculty of Public Health, Mahidol University, Thailand, the Department of Health Services Support, Ministry of Public Health, Thailand, the Society for Health Administration Programs in Education (SHAPE), the AusAID, the Australian Education International (AEI), and the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau.

As it has been noted that the principle of “Health Services Management” is not well-known in many countries in South East Asia including Thailand, we thus realize the importance of this matter and have decided to organize this Conference so that health managers can get a better understanding of the concept and share their experiences. Then, they will be able to manage the health services system in their respective region more effectively, aimed at making health care universally accessible to all the people and target groups in an equitable manner. This will lead to the development of a strong health system and the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) according to the primary health care strategy. This conference will be a forum for extensive knowledge sharing and the beginning of continuous and sustainable development of Health Services Management principles and practices.

Phitsanulok province is one of the most interesting provinces in northern Thailand, serving as a centre of commerce, transportation and communication, where you can find the most beautiful Buddha statue, Phra Buddhachinaraj. Less than one hour’s drive from Phitsanulok city is Sukhothai province where the famous Loi Krathong (candle-lit lotus-shaped baskets floating) Festival is held annually in November especially on the full moon night of the 12th month in the traditional Thai lunar calendar. Sukhothai also has several interesting places such as Sukhothai Historical Park and Si Satchanalai Historical Park (both are World Heritage sites), King Ramkhamhaeng Monument, and Si Satchanalai National Park. We do hope you will come to join us and touch the unique culture and enjoy our unforgettable environment.

Sincerely yours,

Dr. Prawit Taytiwat
